Allied Relations and l’après guerre

  • Chris Kempshall
Chapter

Abstract

In this chapter, Kempshall examines the collapse of allied cooperation in the immediate aftermath of the First World War. This is principally done through an examination of the events surrounding the Paris Peace Conference and diplomatic rivalry between Britain, France, and the USA. It is also supported by evidence showing how soldiers from these countries began to reject each other once the fighting had concluded. However, Kempshall also shows how acknowledgement of the warm regard the soldiers had once held each other in remained in Britain and France after the conflict.
