Climate Change: Water and Sanitation

Climate change affects population health worldwide. The consequences of climate change include many changes, such as sea-level rise, precipitation changes and increased floods and droughts, heat waves, intense storms, air pollution, and more. These consequences affect human health. Fortunately, by addressing climate change through adaptation and coping strategies, many health effects could be decreased or, perhaps, avoided altogether. The information in this chapter focuses specifically on water and sanitation resiliency ideas that can be used to improve health outcomes.
