Abstract

There are two components to liability in a case of clinical negligence: breach of duty and causation. For a clinical negligence case to be brought successfully a causal link must be established between the alleged negligence and it must be demonstrated that this caused harm to the patient. Important landmark cases that have influenced case law are discussed briefly in this chapter.
