Congenital Spinal Anomalies

Congenital spine abnormalities are caused by developmental defects during early gestation, which can lead to early and progressive scoliosis and kyphosis. Associated genitourinary and cardiac defects are common. While multiple factors affect treatment decisions, bracing is usually ineffective for congenital curves and operative intervention is frequently necessary.
