Abandoned in Place
I have taken the title of this chapter from the book published by Roland Miller in 2016. In Abandoned in Place he uses photography to both explore and document America’s early space launch and research facilities. He employs photography to lend historical and artistic insight to the preservation and portrayal of abandoned, deactivated, and repurposed sites in a way that surpasses the official government documentation. I think the Apollo Mission Control Center is also a place which deserves preservation. This book is my way of doing that, but by using existing photography and adding both time and mission context.
