Asian Blepharoplasty: The Essential Steps
Chapter
First Online:
Abstract
Asian blepharoplasty refers to a specialized form of upper blepharoplasty that is coupled with creation of an eyelid crease. This popular procedure is termed double eyelid surgery in Asia and has been performed for more than 120 years. The deceptively simple goal can be fraught with pitfalls, requiring a thorough understanding of anatomy and techniques, especially in regard to aesthetics and potential for functional impairment from complications. This chapter details the steps preferred by the author in handling the tissues such as to maximize the probability of achieving a dynamic, natural-appearing crease.
