Case 38: Self-sealing Open Globe Injury
A 51 year old man presented 2 days after a Zone I open globe injury of the right eye after hammering metal. He was found to have a self-sealing corneal laceration and a traumatic cataract with a lenticular foreign body. He underwent removal of the intralenticular foreign body and phacoemulsification of a traumatic cataract. He was left aphakic and underwent secondary intraocular lens placement a month later.
