Abstract

Post-operative management is vital to visual, psychological, and aesthetic recovery. A systemic approach tailored to patients based on their injury can be helpful to ensure all patients get the best care. Patients should be followed closely by an ophthalmologist comfortable with trauma and referred to subspecialty services as needed. It is important that these patients are followed closely and are not lost to follow up as they are at increased risk for post-operative complications, such as retinal detachment and infection. Diligent post-operative follow up can lead to good visual outcomes and/or satisfied patients.
