Shaping Foreign Policy Debates in Turkey: The SETA Foundation for Political, Economic, and Social Studies
In Turkey, think tanks are a relatively new phenomenon; their role greatly increased as a result of economic growth, as well as due to the country’s geopolitical importance and the rapid changes affecting the region. One of the main purposes of think tanks is to set the agenda for foreign and security policy. In this sense, the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) seeks to contribute to a new vision through policy research and publications. Also, it became one of the think tanks that assisted in diversifying the foreign policy agenda in Turkey. Furthermore, SETA organized workshops to gather experts’ opinion to guide research and recommendations to the government.
