Abstract

This chapter discusses the common inherited thrombophilias: factor V Leiden and prothrombin gene mutation. The chapter describes the epidemiology and pathophysiology of factor V Leiden and prothrombin gene mutation and states how the disorders affect pregnancy. The peripartum medical and anesthetic management of women with these conditions is discussed.
