Abstract

Patients with pain after herpes zoster may suffer from numerous, different, spontaneous, and evoked pain-related symptoms. Despite this heterogeneity of sensory abnormalities, the patients’ complaints are summarized in an umbrella diagnosis of “postherpetic neuralgia,” and they are treated according the overall spontaneous pain intensity.
