Abstract

Urolithiasis is macroscopic calcification in the urinary collecting system, whereas nephrocalcinosis is microscopic calcification in the tubules, tubular epithelium, or interstitial tissue of the kidney. Urolithiasis and nephrocalcinosis are common indications for imaging in children. The clinical and laboratory findings in urolithiasis and nephrocalcinosis are described in chapter “Urolithiasis and Nephrocalcinosis”.
