Abstract

Before hysterectomy, clinical diagnostics represent essential tools for the surgeon with regard to indication, procedure planning and patient information. This chapter describes available diagnostic measures and their consequences in the framework of preparing for successful hysterectomy. Work-up includes patient history taking, gynecological examination, cervical cytology and case-dependent selected imaging techniques. Documented results provide the necessary basis for risk reduction, adequate surgery including anaesthesiology, and patient informed consent.
