Thermo-Analytical Techniques in the Assessment of Mechanical Properties at Elevated Temperatures of Polyester-Glass Composites

Abstract

Thermoanalytical techniques (DTA, TG, TMA) have been used on glass fibre reinforced polyester resins (GRP). Mechanical tests (tensile, flexural and buckling) were performed on GRP at various temperatures. The thermal methods give a rapid and simple indication of the temperature ranges where critical changes in mechanical properties occur.
