Microcomputer-Controlled Dilatometer with Infrared Rapid Heating System and Its Application

Abstract

A high speed dilatometer using an infrared image heater has been developed by combining a microcomputer-controlled heating and data processing system. This new dilatometer system consists of a push rod dilatometer with an infrared furnace, microcomputer-controlled temperature controller and data processing system, keyboard, floppy disk, CRT display and xy plotter. This system has many features:
  • Highly accurate and sharp heating and cooling control up to 1000°C/min.

  • Thermal expansion and its derivative curves are instantaneously displayed on CRT.

  • Mean coefficient of thermal expansion and characteristic temperatures such as transition temperatures can be displayed on CRT by using two cursor points.
