Conservative Treatment of Peroneal Tendon Injuries: Peroneal Tendon Sheath Ultrasound-Guided Corticosteroid Injection
- 25 Downloads
Peroneal tendon pathology has multiple etiologies and is a common cause of lateral ankle pain. Despite being the initial treatment directive, conservative modalities are few and often have a limited ability to affect the natural history of the unique tendon pathology. While corticosteroid injections are frequently used in musculoskeletal care, it has recently been determined that ultrasound-guided peroneal tendon sheath corticosteroid injections are a reliable and safe alternative and/or adjunct, when other modalities have failed.
