Achieving QoS Upper Bounds for Various MAC Parameters in the VANET

As the traffic density keeps on increasing, the efficient and safer traffic management is the bottleneck issue nowadays. This resulted in developing intelligent transport system. The dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) is an enabling technology for the success of intelligent transportation system (ITS). Recently, endeavors have been developed to create communication for vehicle to everything (V2X) utilizing IEEE 802.11p. This system confronts difficulties while ensuring network stability and guaranteeing the system’s adaptability with the increase in traffic. Therefore, simulative investigations have been done to evaluate the optimum physical and medium access control layer parameters like packet reception ratio and packet update delay in both city and highway scenarios. Moreover, realistic conditions for city have been created by using Rician fading model and for highway using random waypoint mobility model is used. The simulation findings conclude that evaluations done for these MAC protocols in highway scenario show better results for different vehicle density as compared to evaluations done in city scenarios.
