Phase Transition for a Hard Sphere System (B.J. Alder, T.E. Wainwright, Phase Transition for a Hard Sphere System, Journal of Chemical Physics 27, 1208, 1957.). This title is likely to be rather meaningless to laypersons. It certainly does not seem to announce a revolution in physics. Even the first line of the short paper—no more than two columns long—which was published in The Journal of Chemical Physics, and was written with the aseptic style so typical of scientific reports, is not particularly significant for those who know very little about thermodynamics: «A calculation of molecular dynamic motion has been designed principally to study the relaxations accompanying various non-equilibrium phenomena».
