How the politician should behave in curia

  • Nick Machiavelli

In curia means “in public”, as in a session of some legislative body open to the public. Here the politician must act with care, because as a decider of matters (by virtue of whether he votes “aye” or “nay” on some proposal), he can gain friends and make enemies at the same time. If he is to be re-elected (as every politician wishes), he must learn how to please one side while minimizing the damage done to his relations with everyone else.
