Many images shown in this book are produced by simulated reconstruction based on virtual imaging. This is a very powerful technique because it emulates the image formation by cameras and eyes. Unnecessary light and field in holography, i.e., non-diffraction light and conjugate images are also reconstructed exactly like real holograms. Thus, we can confirm reconstruction of a CGH before its fabrication. We start from a simple technique based on back propagation, and then proceed to imaging by use of a virtual lens. Full-color simulated reconstruction as well as monochromatic reconstruction is discussed in this chapter.
