Abstract

Computer holography is a technique to create computer-generated holograms (CGH), for reconstructing 3D images using computers. In this chapter, we discuss the differences between CGHs for 3D displays and optical devices, advantages of the display-CGHs, and difficulties in creating holographic displays as an ultimate 3D display. Early and latest large-scale static CGHs that reconstruct brilliant deep 3D images are demonstrated.
