Literature data about herpes simplex virus infections of the skin in migrants are rather poor. Studies on human papilloma virus infections in migrant females have been carried out in Spain and Italy. According to these studies, the rate of human papilloma virus infections in migrants to Italy is four times higher than that observed in age-matched Italian women. This high prevalence reflects either individual lifestyle or high prevalence of these infections in the country of origin. The high burden of these infections correlates with the high incidence of cervical cancer in migrant women.
