Abstract

Overview of the book with an introduction to the incest motif used as a metaphor to describe social anxiety in response to changes in institutions such as marriage, both in the Middle Ages and in the twenty-first century. Use of literary narratives about incest as a means of understanding cultural mentalities, using La Manekine as a point of reference.
