Concrete is the most widely used construction material works in the world, but it dose have a weakness it is prone to catastrophic cracking that has immense financial and environmental impact. Bio concrete is an environment friendly and innovative approach aiming to close the cracks produced in concrete structures. This paper presents the engineering characteristics of two types of bacteria; Sporosarcina pasteurii, and Rhizobium leguminosarum, mixed with concrete with different concentrations. The experimental laboratory testing included compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength, and ultrasonic pulse velocity test, CT-Scanning, SEM test, EDX test, to investigate the bacteria’s effect on the strength of concrete at the ages of 7, and 28 days. In general, it was found that the addition of bacteria proved to have higher strength characteristics by closing the micro pores in concrete and making it denser as compare to the conventional concrete.
