Government awards in the form of cash subsidies and service contracts are only one of the methods that public officials use to help new space firms survive. In this penultimate chapter, McCurdy describes how governmental bodies throughout the United States use tax expenditures, provision of facilities, insurance support and favorable regulations to enlarge the value of new space industries.
