  • Ewa StańczykEmail author

This chapter focuses on the wider historical context concerning children in World War II, both in Poland and beyond. In particular, the chapter discusses a variety of roles in which children participated in war. First, the chapter explores recurring themes relating to “war children”, such as displacement, imprisonment, annihilation and armed resistance and shows how they played out in Poland, before moving on to several case studies from other European countries.
