A laser is only as safe or hazardous as how it is handled; the user’s knowledge and skill define how well and safely a clinical practice operates. Proper safety management requires a fourfold approach, including knowledge of standards, identification of hazards and risks, implementation of appropriate control measures, and consistent program audits and management.

The authors would especially like to thank Giovanni Lombardi and Ester Del Duca who contributed to this chapter.
