Early Encounters Between Christians and Muslims in Oman

  • Andrew David Thompson
Part of the Christianities of the World book series (CHOTW)

This chapter looks at Omani encounters with the expanding imperial ambitions of Portugal and Britain and notes the negative nature of colonialism which was experienced by Omanis in the form of violence and oppression. A sample of historical narratives reveals that Christians in that era of imperialism largely reported a peaceful and positive reception to their presence.
