Abstract

This chapter covers the fundamental aspects of post-procedural follow-up imaging, after surgical aortic valve replacement and after TAVI procedure.

The central role in this context is played by echocardiography, angiography, and the use of cardiac computed tomography and in selected cases of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.

The correct diagnosis and classification of postoperative complications, from prosthesis malfunctions (patient-prosthesis mismatch, endocarditis, thrombosis and leaflets motion abnormalities) to post-implantation paravalvular leaks, to problems related to vascular access (bleeding, dissections and compartment syndrome) are described in detail and discussed, along with the treatments.
