The concept of regional integration has drawn much attention and has been preached by several countries over the past few years, both regionally and internationally. Regional integration has been idolized as the key to promoting regional growth and development through the adoption and implementation of policies that will yield mutual benefits for all parties involved. Following the emergence of the euro, there has been a renewed and an increasing global interest to promote economic and regional integration as a means of facilitating economic growth and regional development. With African nations attaining their independence, regional integration has come to be viewed as crucial for facilitating the continent’s development.
