Ethiopia-China Relations: A Focus on Factors Driving Investment Inflows and the Socioeconomic Impact

A look at the way China-Ethiopia political and economic relations have gained momentum during the past few years shows that this momentum will only increase. China’s rise to become the world’s second largest economy has strategically positioned her in such a way that she is now able to play an influential role in the global economy. China’s new found position at the apex of global trade and economics has worked to the advantage of a number of developing countries, especially those in Africa, over the past decade. Having realized that she cannot achieve her objectives in isolation, China has been at the forefront of promoting South-South Cooperation, which is a development cooperation aimed at the exchange of resources, technology, and knowledge for sustainable development and the eradication of poverty within developing countries.
