The Quantitative and Qualitative Manifestations of Spatial Inequality in Vhembe District
The manifestations of service delivery from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective is revisited in this chapter. The evidence provided and discussed in this chapter is largely drawn from Vembe District Municipality in Limpopo which is the key case study for this book. Hence critical insight into the district profile and local profiles from both rural and urban divides provide comprehensive anecdotes into the levels of access and quality of services prevailing. Through data presentations, trends that speak to spatial inequality along physical, financial and social patterns begin to emerge—a stark pointer to the reality of existing differentiations in existing space. But more so, the myriad of factors at work, that directly and indirect impinge on the emerging space, are also a reflection of the complexity of spatial inequality.
