The Destruction of Livelihood and Possessions; Resettlement Among the Indigenous Peoples
The governor, likely in concert with the commander-in-chief, decided to disperse all those who did not obey the government among the indigenous peoples. The worst locations with a hot climate were selected for this. An order was sent by the governor to depart immediately. The order split the Doukhobors into groups. The first group included five households from each village, who were to depart immediately. The second group had to leave in the same manner three days after the first group, and so on until the last group left.
