Abstract

A cohort study operates with several independent samples, one for each combination of levels of the exposure variables. Again we shall restrict ourselves to the simplest situation where we have only one binary exposure variable that differentiates between “exposed” (1) and “non-exposed” (0) and one binary outcome variable with the values “diseased” (1) and “non-diseased” (0). The term “diseased” may designate other health outcomes such as a missing tooth or death in a traffic accident.
