If one wonders about what is common amongst all things, perhaps the best answer would be that they all are made up of atoms. It is noteworthy realization that different arrangement of atoms lead to such different set of properties, behavior and character that no two living beings are alike! This thinking may further be applied to man-made and naturally occurring materials and structures. Fundamentally, by arranging atoms in various forms and configurations, one may create marvels of technology. Therefore, it is indispensable to understand how atoms interact with each other and how this arrangement affects the nanoscale properties.
