Abstract

The operational analysis of overcurrent relays is complex compared to the other protection principles, this is because the time in which the protection should operate is not known as it depends on the evolution of the fault current. Therefore, the relays setting is established by defining the maximum boundary condition, both for steady state to determine the pickup current of relays and dynamic state to perform protection coordination.
