How to Avoid Urethral Injury in Males

While taTME provides excellent access to the male pelvis for improved surgical management of distal rectal cancer, it can also lead to a unique complication. Namely, iatrogenic injury to the urethra. This chapter explores the anatomic nuances that must be recognized and understood by taTME surgeons and proposes methods to prevent this complication in practice.
