Automating IT Project Governance Lifecycle Through Semantic Technologies

Abstract

This paper aims to propose an IT project governance system based on semantic technologies. The main feature of our system is the use of a combination of COBIT V5 and PMOBOK V3 good practices, to verify that the projects are continuously controlled and maintained. The purpose is to provide a machine readable document for IT project Governance domain model based on semantic ontology. The proposed ontology has been evaluated for its inconsistency, incompleteness, and redundancy. IT project governance ontology has been implemented in protégé software, and the integrity has been validated through the inference engines: Fact ++ 1.6.5 and Pellet. The proposed domain knowledge has been validated through SPARQL queries using JENA FUSEKI Server. It is found that the integrated use of COBIT and PMBOK practices can help organizations to better control their IT project, achieving in that way a better alignment between the business and the IT.
