Kruskal–Szekeres Coordinates and Geodesics of the Schwarzschild Black Hole

Abstract

Last lecture, we saw that the Schwarzschild solution is characterized by a curvature singularity at \(r=0\) and a metric singularity at \(r=\frac{2GM}{c^2}\), where we re-introduced the gravitational constant G and speed of light c. The space-time has an exterior and an interior region characterized by \(r>2M\) and \(r<2M\) and denoted by I and II, respectively. Today we will consider a new coordinate system which will allow us to double the space-time and find copies of regions I and II.
