Chapter

Abstract
This chapter has three main goals. First it seeks to lay bare the reasons behind the rapprochement between Greece and Israel and their strategic partnership in the Eastern Mediterranean and will also investigate whether the Israeli–Greek rapprochement constitutes a balancing act against Turkey. Second whether Greek–Israeli bilateral relations have reached the level of a new system of alliance is another focal point of this article and suggests that threat and profit related motivations of two sides have paved the way for the occurrence of a quasi-alliance. Third this study further seeks to examine the challenges and prospects for this cooperation and partnership.
