Creativity Studies and Shakespeare at the Urban Community College

Abstract

Teaching Shakespeare in an urban community college presents significant challenges, but five students tattooed their bodies with the words “Fear no more” from Cymbeline, embodying the text. With the help of Creativity Studies, this chapter suggests that underserved populations may be even more receptive to Shakespeare than traditional students precisely because of the life experiences and maturity they bring to their reading.
