In order to quantitatively portray error, it is necessary to have a set of mathematical methods to describe error and corresponding operations on errors. Hereby, in this chapter, we introduce the definition of error sets, operations on error sets, and the laws that those operations must satisfy. Having been built on the concept and theory of error sets, the rest of this chapter illustrates the theories and applications of error matrix, function of error matrix, and set function of error matrix.
