Abstract

In 1992, EU Commission President Jacques Delors said at a meeting of the Conference of European Churches that if, over the next ten years, Europe was not imbued with a soul, meaning that it would acquire a spirituality and a deeper sense of the reason for its existence, the game would be over. He added that he would therefore like to revive the intellectual and spiritual debate on Europe.
