Part 2. Thermodynamic Properties of Fluid Metals at High Temperatures and High Pressures

Abstract

Knowledge of thermodynamic properties of fluid metals at elevated temperatures and pressures has for a long time remained very limited. Although nearly four fifths of the elements are metallic and although the solid phases of these metals and alloys have been thoroughly investigated, comparatively very little experimental work has been done to determine thermodynamic data of the fluid phases over a wide range of temperatures. This was probably mainly due to technical difficulties.
