Abstract

The eating disorders, anorexia and bulimia nervosa, have been the focus of extensive research throughout the last 15 years. This chapter discusses issues related to diagnosis, prevalence, etiology, assessment, and treatment. The emphasis is on recent research advances. A final section pertaining to future directions describes new areas of research that are emerging in the 1990s.
