Abstract

A major challenge facing environmental scientists is to accurately document human exposure to hazardous substances and evaluate adverse human health effects which may result from such exposure. Current knowledge in this area suggests that adverse human health effects may be associated with chronic low dose exposure to hazardous substances. These effects can manifest as subclinical organ-system changes that may be detected prior to overt signs and symptoms of disease.
