Organizational Science in a Global Environment
This book has attempted to review much of what is currently known about organizational science in a global environment. As such, it represents a relatively unique perspective by forcing us to consider how cultural and national diversity affects organization design, employee behavior, and organizational effectiveness in different parts of the world. Indeed, if we draw nothing else from the collection of essays in this volume, we should at the very least learn the value of making organizational science international. For too long we have focused on American organizations and American approaches to understanding these organizations. In view of the changing economic and political situation, clearly the time has come to expand our intellectual horizons to incorporate this new dimension into our theories and research.
