Abstract

The increasing interest in wide-spectrum radiation sources (like synchrotron radiation machines) brings the need to describe in an unitary way the interaction of the electromagnetic radiation with matter in the range from visible to soft X rays (i.e. the radiation energy interval between some eV up to a few keV).
