Man-Made Alterations of the Near Earth Space Environment
This paper will deal with questions of “pollution” in space — not in the atmosphere but at altitudes of hundreds or thousands of miles. There is a question about what pollution in space means. What is the pollution? It is particles — not fly ash or SO2 molecules — but rather high energy electrons and protons in the Van Allen radiation belt.
