Flow Cytometry as a Tool for the Evaluation of Testicular Toxicity

Abstract

Concern regarding the sensitivity of the male reproductive system to chemical insult has greatly increased in the last years. Histopathological evaluation of the testis is a routinely used endpoint to asses testicular toxicity but shows the disadvantages of being subjective and time consuming. In order to improve testicular examinations in terms of rapidity and objectivity, a method based on the analysis of testicular cell suspensions by flow cytometry (FCM) has been developed.
